This May, EC Gallery newcomer
Richard Johnson will be at Fashion
Valley to display his gorgeous acrylic
masterpieces. A self-proclaimed, “midwestern
boy at heart” from the Great
Lakes of Chicago, Johnson developed
a love of art early on, which he says,
“opened new vistas to explore.”

Richard Johnson’s keen awareness
and passion for life continued to develop
and mature as he did. Not only
has he nurtured and developed his
artistic talent over the years, but he
has also never lost sight of his priority
in being a loyal family man. He attributes
much of his creative inspiration
to “God’s creation and His sacrificial
love for me.”

Johnson’s professional career began
as a highly sought-after illustrator. His formal schooling includes programs
at the prestigious Art Institute
of Chicago, as well as The American
Academy of Art.

The work of Richard Johnson has
been described as “poetic intimacy.”
He has a style all his own that allows
our eye to wander uninterrupted over
an entire work of art.

Johnson’s early years as an illustrator
also provided him with the unique
set of skills necessary to make him a
highly skilled commission portrait artist.
He has completed portraits of U.S.
Presidents, NASA astronauts, and patrons
who wish to have this great master
capture them on canvas.

Richard Johnson is an ideal artist to
take on such a personal and important
task. He prefers to work from a photograph of his subject(s) that he shoots
himself, to ensure the highest quality
end product. Johnson’s perfectionist
stance on the process enables him to
capture his models in their purest and
most lovely moments, resulting in a truly
breathtaking end result. The completed
work will be a collector’s personal
item to keep for generations to come.
